We are the lead partner of the project Learning to Learn – Targeting Learning Difficulties of Children from Marginalised Social Groups in 6 Rural Communities in Latvia, which we implement together with our partners - Family Association “Ligzda” (Brocēni County), Foundation “Skolai pie ezeriņa” (Valmiera City), Association “Mēs pasaulē” (Rugāji County), Association “Atrodi laiku sev” (Valka County) and Association “Kurmenes viļņi” (Vecumnieki County).
On 5, 9 and 12 December 2013 Christmas workshops were organised in all three schools of Beverīna County - Trikāta, Kauguri and Brenguļi. Workshops were organised with financial support from Association "Lauku partnerība Ziemeļgauja" and in cooperation with our craftsmen friends from Association "Beverīnas amatnieki".
The aim of the project is, by using the resources available at the county's schools and by establishing a strong triangle of cooperation between the schools, the NGO "Iespēju durvis" representing them, and the local government, to implement a set of activities that would provide the local community members with an opportunity to improve their wellbeing and encourage them to self-initiated further social action and improvement of the quality of living.
Grant amount: EUR 14 950
The aim of the project is to make a vegetable bed at Trikāta Elementary School where the first-graders and pre-schoolers from the kindergarten could try out in practice their gardening skills, learn about the process of growing, about different vegetables and their treatment, where and how the vegetables may be used and what good they bring. Children could thus gain better understanding of nature and its processes, the importance of one's labour and the "fruit" that it brings.
The grant is used for purchasing of different gardening tools for children and adults.
